A Calendar of Cakes & Cookies
Sweet tooth? Here's a taste of my guest post in a fellow creative newsletter.
Welcome (or welcome back!) to Multifaceted, a digital magazine about finding delight and direction in a creative life made up of many different interests.
If you’ve been enjoying each weekly installment, consider upgrading your subscription:
This month’s issue celebrates all the sweetest things in a creative life.
What would a creative life be without a massive slice of cake every now and then?
With that in mind, I’m excited to share my guest post in While I Was Drawing, a delightful newsletter by Emily Charlotte Powell.
Accountant by day and illustrator by night, Emily writes about creativity, inspiration, and slowing down to get lost in the whole process. Her poetic words are made even more magical by lovely illustrations — and the occasional fairy.
Emily has been gathering a cozy, creative community around her post series called Because Creativity. It’s a delightful celebration of creativity in all forms, where guest authors are invited to share stories about the creative pastimes they keep up with, just because.
Since people tend to talk more about their hustles than their hobbies, I found Emily’s idea for this series refreshing. And I was immediately inspired to write a piece about one of my favorite sources of just-because joy.
As part of this series, my guest contribution is all about my love for baking. I sprinkled in a little bit of everything:
My quest for the perfect cookies
The quirky retro cake I attempted
Celebratory sweets I make throughout the seasons
Why baking makes for the perfect icebreaker topic
Links to a few favorite recipes
You can give it a read here:
Be sure to check out Emily’s newsletter and the rest of the series while you’re at it. If you’re a fan of baking just for fun, let us know in the comments!
