But Make It a Magazine!
Things are getting a little glossier around here. Turning the page to a new chapter of creativity for Multifaceted.
Welcome (or welcome back!) to Multifaceted, a weekly newsletter about finding delight and direction in a creative life made up of many different interests.
All the time I’ve spent thumbing through magazines while making collage art got me thinking… Why not turn my creativity-focused newsletter into something a little more, well, creative?
So, I'm excited to share that Multifaceted is taking on a new, magazine-inspired format!
Each month, we'll dive into a theme-oriented collection of weekly essays, exercises, and inspiration to help ignite your creativity. Keep reading for a preview of the June issue.
Here’s what’s unfolding:
Monthly themes
Every month, I’ll be sharing a kaleidoscope of content around a central theme. You’ll still receive one new piece each week, but they’ll be grouped into monthly issues where each article explores and celebrates multifaceted creativity from a similar lens.
New content styles and sections
You know how your favorite magazine has different sections for different topics? That’s what I’ll be doing here! It'll be a fun way to mix things up throughout the month and address different facets of the creative experience.
Plus, it creates space for me to engage more of my own facets and share conversations with fellow multi-hyphenates.
Each issue will include a little bit of everything across a few key sections:
Creative Compass
No-nonsense guidance, thought-provoking exercises, and friendly encouragement. Feature articles that’ll help you tune into your creative voice and confidently navigate your one-of-a-kind path.
Shapeshifters
A creative community spotlight featuring in-depth Q&As with thriving multi-hyphenates.
Studio Notes
Reflections, project updates, and other snippets from my own creative journey.
Creative Living
A chance for me to step into Martha Stewart Living mode and explore the creative home, workspace, and lifestyle.
Moodboard Mood
A fresh dose of creative inspiration, with exciting visuals, good vibes, and recommended reads.
The chance to support my work
Along with the evolution in format, I'm proud to say Multifaceted is becoming a reader-supported publication.
Each paid subscriber helps keep the content here free of ads and clutter. This model sets Multifaceted apart from traditional blogs that rely on banner ads and pop-ups to stay up and running.
If you think each article offers about $2 in value, consider upgrading to become a founding paid subscriber:
It’s not far off from the cost of a coffee shop visit. But, at least in my experience, a dose of creative encouragement offers a lot more lasting energy than a hazelnut latte.
I’m incredibly grateful to the kind readers who have already joined as early supporters. Your generosity and belief in my work make me even more determined to keep evolving Multifaceted into something special. Together, we’re already having a greater impact than I can measure. Thank you, thank you!
June preview: The Kaleidoscope Issue
As creative shape-shifters, we have the power to reorient our practices and perspectives to reveal dazzling new possibilities. If we look carefully, we can spot patterns in every twist and turn of our creative paths.
I'm celebrating 6 months of Multifaceted with a theme that’s fitting for the journey we’re all on – and the kaleidoscopic array of content to come.
Plus, this issue will include the first in a series of interviews with fellow creatives. It’s a wonderful conversation with Carly Palmer – a collage artist, wordsmith, makeup artist, and friend who just so happens to paint in a kaleidoscopic style. I know you’ll find her as inspiring as I do!
Whether you’re a dreamer, maker, seasoned artist, or curious explorer, Multifaceted is here to guide, inspire, and celebrate you.
I’ll be pinning this post to my homepage and updating it to include an archive of all monthly issues. You’re always welcome to return here and dip back into a past article or activity you wanted to spend more time with.
Until next time,
Jess
That's an excellent idea!
Ohhh I love this! In my 'pivot season' my thought was also to do mag style issues - I am so drawn to this style and love that I see a fellow Substacker doing the same. TOTALLY inspired by this!
